This was our first "solo" Thanksgiving as we have always spent this holiday with Matthew's parents at their house when we lived in Illinois. This was our first time preparing a turkey as well, so since it was just us, we did a nice small turkey in the crock-pot and a few of our favorite sides.
Even though we missed our families over this holiday, it honestly was nice to enjoy this time of thankfulness as a family.
One of my favorite moments over holidays and special occasions, is preparing the apple pie with the girls. It is mostly Lexi who enjoys this, but Addison definitely loves playing in the flour 😜
We always have so much to be thankful for, but more so this year....We are thankful for God's guidance in moving us down here to NC. We were able to see His hand in everything, even if it didn't make sense to us in the moment. We are so thankful to God for providing Matthew with a job that he loves and looks forward to daily. I am thankful that God provided the perfect family for me to minister to by watching their little boy, which enables me to stay home with our girls for a few years. We are thankful for Addison's speech therapist and for the progress we have been seeing. I am thankful that we live next to a neighbor who has a little boy around the same age as the girls- we have had many play dates and there are many more to come! We are so thankful to be a part of a church whose members love and care for our family.
It may have been a rough start and not as smooth as a transition as we would've hoped for, but with two toddlers, not much is smooth 🤣 and God's blessings continue to flow, and we are so thankful!
And as always, with any holiday, napping afterwards is mandatory 😴
